Adding fruit puree can make regular lemonade something more whimsical. Blueberry is an unexpected twist on lemonade. I used canned lemonade to make this recipe a little easier, but it would work perfectly with fresh!
Ingredients
2 pints blueberries, rinsed
1/4 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
2 cans frozen lemonade
Lots of ice
Directions
1. Place the blueberries in a blender (reserve 1/4 cup for garnish if you wish) with the citrus juice. Blend until it is completely smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve. This removes all the blueberry skin that tends to stick in people’s teeth.
2. Make the lemonade according to its directions. Add the blueberry puree and stir *vigorously. Serve with lots of ice!
*Note: You can make the mixture ahead of time, but it might become jelly-like from the natural pectin in the berries. Don’t worry though, it will mix up just fine!
